TOPIC:         DANGERS OF BAD COMPANY AND WORLDLINESS (Part 1)
TEXT:           2 Chron. 25:1-10; 2 Cor. 6:14-18
Memory Verse:     2 Cor. 6:14

INTRODUCTION
Sheep are very gentle animals. They move about in groups. Goats are known to be very stubborn and disobedient and the pig is a dirty animal which normally sleeps inside dirty water or mud if not caged. As a child, you should know that because these animals have different characters, they are different from each other. Therefore, they do not relate together. Have you ever seen a dog in the company of a sheep? The answer is NO. This example is to show you that the people you move with will show the world the kind of person you are. The study shows us the dangers of keeping bad company and the kind of life a Christian child should live. The message is in three parts.
1.         WHAT IS BAD COMPANY?
2 Chron. 25:1-10
When a child realizes that he is a sinner, repents and turns away from doing bad things and makes Jesus his Lord and saviour, he becomes a Christian.
Now that he is a child of God, he is expected to leave everything that is bad and follow Jesus. Such things are: old sinful friends who are still doing bad things. The Bible has a lot of examples of people who followed bad company. They are: King Jehoshaphat who followed wicked King Ahab, King Solomon who married women that worshipped idols, Rehoboam, the son of King Solomon followed bad friends who gave him wrong advice. They all went astray and served other gods.
These examples show that it is dangerous for any friend of Jesus to keep bad company. Are you a friend of Jesus? Or are you just going to the church to influence other children with your bad way of life? Why don’t you turn away fro,, all your bad ways and say sorry to Jesus today?

QUESTIONS
1.         All animals are the same: YES or NO; Explain?
2.         Give examples of things that bad children do?
3.         Name some of your friends that are bad?
4.         What is the meaning of bad company?
5.         Who are to be our friends?

ACTIVITY:
Make a list of your friends that are bad and that you will not follow again.
Write all your Christina friends in the school and church that you will be following?
Name all the bad things you use to do.

2.        DANGERS OF BAD COMPANY?
1 Cor. 15:33; 2 Chron. 19:1-4
Don’t be deceived into thinking that you can get anything good from keeping bad company. Keeping bad company means making friends with bad boys and girls. These bad friends will spoil you and make you to do bad things like them. A friend of Jesus who refuses to stop following bad friends will;
·         Loose fellowship with God and Jesus
·         No longer be favoured by God
·         Have no peace or joy in his heart
·         Copy the bad behaviours of his friends
·         Always find himself in one trouble or the other
·         Fall into the hand of his enemy like Jehoshaphat
·         Miss eternal life with Jesus in heaven
What then are you to do? Take decision of the wise, turn away from sin and sinful friends and remain a permanent friend of Jesus.

Memory Verse:      2 Cor. 6:14

3.        THE CHRISTIAN IN THE WORLD?
2  Cor. 6:14-18; 1 John 2:15
God’s instruction concerning how friends of Jesus should live is very clear in the Bible. Believers are warned not to love the world. It is Jesus’ desire that every Christian child should separate himself/herself from bad companies and the evil practices in the society around them.
As true friends of Jesus, you will not make sinners your close friends or copy their sinful ways. In order to remain a friend of Jesus and be free from sin, a Christian child will:
·         Always be in fellowship with other children who are friends of Jesus
·         Be separated from the things of the world like parties, bad games and watching bad cartoons
·         Read his/her Bible, obey it and pray all the time
·         Preach always to sinners about the love of Jesus Christ
Be obedient to your parents, teachers at school and in the church. As you do these, other children will come to love Jesus because of your life.

QUESTIONS
1.          What is bad company and worldliness?
2.         Give examples of things that bad children do?
3.         As a Christian child, what does Jesus expect you to do?
4.         When a child becomes a friend of Jesus, what should he do with his old friends?
5.         How should a Christian child relate with others in the world and also to unbelievers?

THOUGHTS
I will serve God by living a pure life, loving and caring for others but separate myself from bad friends.

LESSON:
It is a commandment from God that Christian’s boys and girls should separate themselves from unbelievers.

DECISIONS
As a Christian, I will be like Christ in the world and don’t behave like sinners. Rather, I will preach to them

ACTIVITY:
A child is to read aloud Philippians 4:8. Other children will identify five key words by writing them down. These words tell us what a Christian child should seek after as he continues to follow Jesus. Then pray for God’s grace to remain with Jesus to the end.

HOME WORK
Find in the dictionary words like: Worldliness, unequal yoke, Attitude, fellowship, Separation, obedient
Also, children are to search the scripture and write down three people who were friends of Jesus but went back into doing bad things. What happened to them?
